Brian Loebig and Tamika Smith - the new hosts of LinkedIn Local MoCo

Brian Loebig and Tamika Smith are happy to announce that they will be the new hosts of LinkedIn Local MoCo! What is LinkedIn Local MoCo? LinkedIn Local is an event geared toward helping LinkedIn members get to know one another in real life. The local meetups happen all over the globe. “MoCo” stands for the recurring event that brings people together in Montgomery County, Maryland. Brian and Tamika will take over hosting duties for Business Consultant and LinkedIn Strategist, Kelly Leonard.

During small business consulting sessions and public speaking engagements, Brian frequently points out LinkedIn as an incredibly useful tool for making business connections and seeking career opportunities. LinkedIn Local MoCo gives it the personal touch. The purpose of the no-pitch, no-selling meetup is to unite people beyond their profile pics, catchy headlines, and company names to connect, collaborate, and build community in real time. Attendees are united around the common belief that with authenticity, respect, and collaboration they can unlock doors to prosperous, sustainable living.

LinkedIn Local MoCo events happen throughout Montgomery County Maryland at co-working spaces, business offices, non-profits and other venues. We serve wine, cheese, and networking, followed by a keynote speakers or a panel discussion. Previous speakers included Laverne Franklin-Jones of LFJ Fashion Styling Services with a topic entitled “Elevate your style: Making a statement without saying a word.” The session  explored why personal style matters in business, how image affects your bottom line, and more.

Howard University graduate Tamika Smith hails from Miami, Florida and Nassau, Bahamas. She is the current Weekend Host on WAMU 88.5, American University Radio, where she also reports on various local issues from politics to the environment. She began her career at NPR’s Tell Me More with Michel Martin and at Radio One as a national news anchor for Keepin’ It Real With Al Sharpton. Brian Loebig launched Loebig Ink as a full-time web consulting business in Richmond, VA in 2010. Now centered in Silver Spring with a wider scope and clients nationwide, Loebig Ink works with an ever-expanding team of social media, SEO, web and graphic design professionals. Brian credits his entrepreneurial ambition to his executive master’s degree experience at Marquette University.

Brian is excited about this new opportunity to meet more great people who are doing business in Montgomery County. Keep an eye on the Loebig Ink calendar for LinkedIn Local MoCo , other appearances, and Loebig Ink-sponsored events.

Join Us for the Root Studio Open Mic

Root StudioRoot Studio Open Mic Night (image: old style microphone on red background) is a treasure nestled among unassuming office spaces in Columbia, MD. If you visit on a second Friday of the month, you’ll be in for a treat – The Root Studio Open Mic. Loebig Ink is a proud sponsor of this evening of enjoyable and eclectic performances.

Doors open for the event at 6:30pm. If you are interested in performing, signup starts at that time. Otherwise, you have time to stroll in, chat with folks among the friendly crowd, enjoy a snack provided by Touché Touchet Bakery & Pastry Shoppe, and get ready for the show which begins at 7pm.

The open mic setup is homespun and familiar to those who are fans of small cafés and community-organized happenings. Longtime performers will find it to be a great place to perform a new tune, an old favorite, or to have a laugh with an unexpected cover tune. New performers will find an audience ready to cheer on creativity in bloom. A solid sound system is provided, but don’t expect to plug in your Stratocaster and blow the doors out. Acoustic instruments and spoken word are the order of the evening. Notable performers have included Piedmont-style singer and guitarist and NEA Fellow Warner Williams, Evan Bujold of Late Earth fame, and singer/songwriter Robin Renée, who also lends her SEO expertise to Loebig Ink.

You may be wondering why a company such as Loebig Ink that is focused on web strategies would be interested in sponsoring a recurring evening of words and music. The essential creative spark is what keeps us inspired, be it to sing a powerful song or to design a brilliant social media campaign. Brian Loebig, company founder and musician, first met Root Studio founder Karen Isailovic at a networking event called C4 Explosive Networking. He later toured the gorgeous art spaces at Root Studio along with music colleagues, which inspired the idea to form Root Studio’s first ever open mic series. We describe Loebig Ink as “a small business consulting firm fueled by coffee, creativity and music to provide SEO, web design and social media solutions.” The open mic is a perfect fit as a further expression of our inspiration.

The focus of Root Studio is to provide a wealth of resources for artists on the path of experimentation and development. Immersion in the artistic process, access to creative co-working spaces, and empowerment for growth are the driving forces of the Root Studio mission. An ongoing series of workshops, mentorships, and more round out all that Root Studio has to offer.

Please join us for an upcoming open mic at Root Studio, 9140 Guilford Rd Suite D, Columbia, MD 21046, 7-9pm. Find out more about open mic night tickets and details. Visit the Loebig Ink events page to keep up with all we have on the horizon.
