Meet Our Marketing Intern – Gabriel Boyd

Loebig Ink Team Member: Gabriel Boyd

Gabriel Boyd on the football fieldMarketing Intern Gabriel Boyd came to Loebig Ink by way of a recommendation from his father, Damon Boyd, who believed it could be a good fit for him and his skill set. So far, the projects he’s taken part in have very much been journeys into learning; his work as an intern has given him the opportunity to encounter aspects of business he’d never been aware of before. The newness of marketing concepts and practices makes working with Loebig Ink an interesting endeavor and Gabriel is ready for the new horizon.

Born in Rockford, Illinois, Gabriel moved to Aurora, Illinois in time for 6th grade. As he grew up in Aurora, challenges weren’t in short supply. He loved taking part in sports, but was very small for his age. Every sport he tried was an uphill climb. Education also had its difficulties.

“I always struggled with subjects such as math throughout my life,” he recalls. “However, my teachers and family there helped me overcome my weakness and turned it into a strength for me which is something I could’ve never anticipated.” Today Gabriel majors in Business Administration at Elmhurst University and he’s a defensive back on the football team.

So far Gabriel has been taking a jack-of-all-trades approach and is familiarizing himself with many of the services that Loebig Ink provides. He is particularly excited about having the opportunity to work with Social Media Specialist Philip Day. His favorite thing so far about working with Brian Loebig and the team is the support he and all the interns receive so that learning new material is easy to understand. He believes this internship is teaching him the value of staying on top of what happens behind the scenes of a good business.

When he’s not working on social media marketing and other services for Loebig Ink projects, Gabriel is usually keeping busy doing homework, playing football, or working at another job. One of the things he desires most in life is to have no debt and to live in financial freedom so he can travel the world. As he continues to grow and succeed at Loebig Ink, he certainly seems to be on the right track.

Meet Our Intern – Shaquille Telford

Loebig Ink Team Member: Shaquille Telford

Shaquille Telford - Performing PoetryLoebig Ink intern Shaquille Telford comes to Loebig Ink with a long history of loving all things internet. When he was young, his parents let him use a computer from time to time. It caught his attention right away. Eventually online entertainment led Shaquille to build websites, create blogs, make YouTube videos, and more. “I probably tried everything you can do on the internet which only increased my love for it,” he says.

Eventually, while exploring how and where to learn more about the World Wide Web, Shaquille came across Brian Loebig and Loebig Ink. After having known Brian for several months, the chance arose for an internship with the company. He snapped up the opportunity to learn with Brian and the rest of the team about how to provide value to other businesses through the internet.

So far, search engine optimization is the Loebig Ink service Shaquille has been enjoying learning about the most. He finds it exciting to discover and hone the details of the SEO process — everything from how to make a website searchable to getting pages to the top of Google. He is happy to be part of the team.

However, Shaquille’s life hardly exists only online. One month into beginning to work with Loebig Ink, his son was born. While he worried that spending time with his child would make him less available and thus a burden to the others, everyone congratulated him and has been open to working with him around his new schedule. He is glad to find that everyone seems to work together well and has been accommodating.

When he’s not working on something for Loebig Ink, Shaquille is most likely spending his free time writing poetry and being with family. He says being a parent is a joy… and a challenge. Having a 4-year-old means that he may well have seen the Disney movie, Zombies, 20 times in the past week! One of his goals is to run a program one day to teach parents how to break their bad habits to become better people and, in turn, better parents.

Bonus facts about Shaquille Telford:

Though he looks and sounds American to most, he was born in the Bahamas.

He once swam with stingrays. He claims they aren’t as scary in person as you might think, but he probably won’t swim with them again!

High Tech Interns On The Job

Washington D.C.’s Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) has brought two bright young interns from the McKinley Technology High School to work with the Loebig Ink team this summer! Through a collaborative partnership with Hera Hub DC, where the interns work, and Philip Day Communications, interns Nia and Sanarah, are learning the basics of WordPress blog writing, social media management, web design, copywriting and professional interviewing skills.

Sanarah Missouri and Nia Crawford
Left to Right: Sanarah and Nia

Nia Crawford is 16 years old and is a rising senior at McKinley Technology High School in Washington, D.C. At her school, Nia has been studying Mass Media for 3 years. Mass Media became much more than just a class; she quickly took an keen interest in the subject. It helped her to realize that she wanted to specialize in Sports Journalism or Broadcasting. This special interest is what linked her to work as an intern for Brian Loebig of Loebig Ink.

Nia began working with Loebig Ink at the end of June 2015 now and is learning a lot that will help contribute to her future aspirations. Everything that she has learned about journalism and sports so far inspired her to work her hardest in order to get where she wants to be. Her motivation to become a sports journalist also comes from the feelings of love and the excitement she gets from watching sports. She believes that working with Loebig Ink is assisting her future goals regarding her journalism career.

Sanarah Missouri was born and raised in Washington, D.C. She is 18 years old and a recent graduate of McKinley Technology High School. Like Nia, Sanarah also studied Mass Media. She always had a passion for cinema and television, even when she was a child. Unlike other little girls her age, Sanarah did not treat her dolls like they were her babies. Instead, she used them to create mental television sitcoms in her head or she would line up her other toys as if they were in a theater watching a movie and she was the film critic. Her goal is to graduate from Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications in order to become a filmmaker or videographer.

Her parents, media teachers, peers, and famous icons are responsible for motivating Sanarah to be the media addict she is to this day. Sanarah is all about facing challenges and learning new things, which led her to becoming an intern for Loebig Ink. She was open to learning about blog writing, web design, and “Twitter prospecting” in which she plans to use in the near future in addition to her other skills. Sanarah declares that working with Brian Loebig is an unforgettable experience and the new techniques that she is still in the process of learning may come in handy for her future career one day.

Sanarah recently interviewed Tamika Smith for the Entrepreneur’s in Action blog series too!
